Hello and welcome to October everybody!
The nights are darker, the leaves are falling and there’s an undeniable chill in the air. If you’re anything like me you’re excitedly fishing your jumpers out the back of your wardrobe and getting ready to settle down and watch those iconic Halloween films like Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Now I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of horror films. Some may call me a wimp but this is why I tend to watch the more PG Disney Halloween films over the blood and gore fest of a typical horror. You may laugh but this has got me thinking, over the years Disney have given us a range of incredible and petrifying villains in some of their classics. In one of my previous Disney Discussion I took you guys on a tour through some of my top Disney Villains. If you would like to see that list click here. Now these villains are brilliant in each of their own way, but most of them have at least this one thing in common … they all have a killer number!
I feel it’s been a little while since I’ve posted a Disney Discussion here on Centre Stage so thought I’d combine a post with the spooky theme of the month and give you a run down of some of my top villain numbers because let’s be honest, they’re some of the best!
7. Oogie Boogie’s Song – The Nightmare Before Christmas:
I’ve seen so many arguments online about whether this is a Halloween or Christmas film and just think why choose? Why not just spend the last few months of 2019 enjoying the pure genius that is The Nightmare Before Christmas?!
6. Be Prepared – The Lion King:
Scar may not be the king of Pride Rock, but he certainly is the King of Sass!
5. Friends on the Other Side – Princess and the Frog:
A ridiculously underrated film and a ridiculously under-rated villain! Just watch this clip and you’ll see what I mean!
4. Poor Unfortunate Souls – The Little Mermaid:
I’d say our queen of body language takes no prisoners, but in this number she’s singing about collecting her prisoners …
3. Gaston – Beauty and the Beast:
He’s “positively prime evil”, but my goodness do they put on a good show in his honour!
2. Mother Knows Best – Tangled:
While yes this is a brilliant number, but it simply infuriates me. Gothel is manipulating and belittling her (stolen) daughter for her own needs. She’s manipulative, selfish and perhaps one of the most interesting villains to date!
1. Love is an Open Door – Frozen:
I know what you’re probably thinking this is a love song, I mean the word “Love” is right there in the title but listen to the lyrics:
Hans: “I’ve been searching my whole life to find my own place”.
He literally just revealed his greedy intentions in a smooth and catchy love song! That b—-!
I had so much fun compiling this list but I’m not the only one celebrating Disney’s villains this month! The folks over at Disney Couture UK have released an exclusive Villains range inspired by some of our favourite vixens!
To take a look at the full range head over to their site now by clicking here!
